They will have us all spinning out of control soon, with everyone doing their best to come up with the right story line, Opec is lying, no the governments are fibbing, no the Saudis are the ones that cut production, does it really matter, will it bring the price down? NO!
You are the only one that can take action, not like a vendetta against fuel companies, don’t use their fuel, have a sit in on their forecourt, all very courageous and commendable and it won’t change a thing!
YOU have to take your own action for your own wallet.
We launched Global No Drive Day www.globalnodriveday.com last year and not many people took it up, it is a simple and easy action to take, just one day in the month we suggested at the time, leave your car at home and the best day would be a Sunday, use your feet, the bike or use public transport, too hard? no its not, if you know its going to save you a bucket load of money, why would you not do it?
So now we are saying make Global No Drive Day every Sunday of the month, let’s do the maths, just for the UK and you can convert for wherever you live the same applies.
Let’s base it on usage of 10 litres (2.2 gallons) of diesel currently priced around £1.35 per litre and let’s say you use that driving around on a Sunday, going to the shops, visiting friends, going to the sports ground, going to the cinema, driving kids to the playground, visiting relatives in hospital, you get the idea.
And let’s say that your fuel efficiency is 40 miles per gallon, so that is 88 miles you will be driving in that day. Not a huge amount is it. So that is £13.50 in one day right!
Now repeat that every Sunday and it will come to £58.50 in one month or £702.00 per year.
Now let’s multiply that by 600 million cars on the planet. That’s £4.2 Billion pounds of savings. Ok so not everyone is going to stop driving every Sunday right and there are different currencies and pricing etc. etc. I know so I just wanted to make an impact.
So let’s say then that only 5% of the 600 million cars will do it; that is just 300,000 drivers that should be easy right! That is still a massive saving in people’s pockets of £210.6 Million per year, so now you think it is worth it?
Now do you think the oil companies will sit up and take notice? You bet ya, as demand will plummet so much, in fact by 3 million litres per year and probably more as more then 5% of drivers will begin to do the same.
And….I have been conservative as most people will do a lot more then 88 miles on a Sunday.
Its up to you! www.globalnodriveday.com
